Boy runs away from home to live with stray dog

The boy, “Cheng Cheng,” had asked to be allowed to keep the stray dog, a companion that the lonely child longed for after his younger sister had died in a car accident, the United Daily News said.

He left home with the dog, which he called “Lao Lao” (“Old Old”), heading south on foot trying to seek help from his grandfather in Yunlin County, some 200 kilometers away from Taoyuan.

He got lost and hungry and he eventually found protection at a police station in Taoyuan.

Police and social workers later convinced his mother to let him keep the dog.
