Napalm bomb attacker in Taoyuan was arrested

TAOYUAN, Taiwan -- Law enforcers in Taoyuan City yesterday arrested a man who was suspected of attacking a grocery store with three napalm bombs Jan. 15 in midnight.

The man, surnamed Wen, who suffered from mental illness, was believed to have allegedly thrown three napalm bombs that were put in liquor containers into the grocery store “Hung Chang” on Jieshou Rd.

The owner of the store, surnamed Lu, and his wife told the police that they introduced a girl to Wen and they later got married. Wen told the police that he believed the couple had slandered him, which resulted in his divorce and his unemployment.

The suspect decided to allegedly attack his matchmakers as revenge.

The police said Wen was suspected of putting petrol gasoline into 11 liquor bottles and making them napalm bombs Dec. 27 2009; three of the bombs were used in the attack earlier this month.

Wen had admitted committing the crime, and told the police that he threw away the jacket that he wore in the attack.
