Students in the college can take any course offered by any of the departments in the college as they see fit to benefit from more flexibility in cross-discipline studies, said Chen Chia-hsiang, Dean of Yuan Ze University's College of Management. The increased flexibility will improve students' competitiveness for future job hunting, Chen continued, adding that professors will also have more freedom to collaborate on inter-discipline research, Chen added. The school will be the first on the island to enroll students intending to study in departments such as accounting, finance, business administration and international business collectively as one group. Incoming students, estimated to be 310 people next year, can choose their majors in their freshmen year, but are free to change their majors during their sophomore year. They will take classes required by the university and core classes central to business majors in the first two years, then progress to more professional subjects in the last two years. Universities in Taiwan subdivide their business schools into too many departments, remarked Peng Zong-yuan, the chancellor of Yuan Ze University, adding that it is important for a business administration major to learn accounting and vice versa.
