Tri-Service General Hospital will start accepting EasyCard

Tri-Service General Hospital announced Monday that patients could now choose EasyCard as a method of payment at its branches in Neihu and Gongguan.

The Taipei-based hospital said it decided to add EasyCard as a payment method due to the card's ubiquity in Taipei.

Tri-Service General Hospital spokesperson Lin Ke-feng said that the average patient fee of NT$450 was suitable for payments via EasyCard, which was currently used for low-value transactions.

Lin said EasyCard's contactless payment method would drastically decrease transaction time for medical fees to an average of three seconds.

More importantly, the use of EasyCard's contactless system would limit the spread of bacteria found in money and during skin-to-skin contact between people, Lin said.

Kenneth Lin (林向愷), chairman of the EasyCard Corporation, said that the year was proving challenging for card-based payment companies and that EasyCard aimed to widen its applications.

Currently, the card can be used in numerous private hospitals around the country and all city-level public hospitals in Taipei and New Taipei City, the

company said, adding that it was in talks to further expand the card's application.
