Yangmingshan lily fest has more than just lilies

TAIPEI -- The annual calla lily festival in Yangmingshan National Park's Zhuzihu area will feature a number of events appealing to all walks of life, its organizer said on Saturday.

There will be concerts, a flower art-centered design contest and guided tours around the farms of Zhuzihu during the festival, which runs between March 24 and April 23, according to officials from the Taipei City Department of Economic Development.

The calla lilies are in great shape and expected to reach full bloom soon, the officials said.

The department also noted that there will be traffic controls from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and holidays during the festival, with main roads in affected areas changed into one-way traffic.

The department suggested that visitors use bus transport to avoid traffic jams when traveling to and from the festival venue.
