TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taipei Department of Cultural Affairs Director Ni Chong-hua (倪重華) said late Thursday that he had provided verbal notice of his intent to resign.
Ni became the second Taipei City Government official to resign this week, following Taipei Deputy Mayor Chou Li-fang (周麗芳) who on Tuesday tendered her resignation, effective on Feb. 1.
Late on Thursday, Ni took to the social networking site Facebook to announce that he had tendered a verbal notice of his resignation to Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲).
Ko accepted Ni's decision, Taipei City Government spokesman Sidney Lin (林鶴明) said.
The appointment of Ni, a pop music producer, as head of the cultural department had sparked controversy in 2014, with critics questioning his credentials and what they called a flawed selection process.
