Two die, four more injured in gang fight following territorial dispute

A gang fight relating to territorial conflicts took place in Tucheng District, New Taipei City yesterday before dawn, in which two people died and four were injured. According to the Fire Department of New Taipei City, the two deaths were caused by gunshots to the chest and neck.

The city fire station received reports of fire at 12:46 a.m. yesterday, stating that a scooter was on fire and there were people injured at a motel near Yongning MRT Station. After firefighters arrived at the scene, they put out the fire and sent the injured to nearby hospitals.

However, a 32-year-old man, surnamed Huang, with a gunshot wound to his chest and many knife cuts on his body, died on the way to a hospital. In addition, Huang's 29-year-old brother also died from a gunshot wound to his neck during the fight.

According to police investigations, two gangs gathered in order to negotiate a territorial conflict. A group allegedly led by a 31-year-old suspect, surnamed Lin, arrived first and ambushed others in a motel room. As soon as Huang arrived, Lin's gang reportedly attacked with guns and knives. During the fight, Huang and his brother were shot in the chest and neck and died before arriving at a hospital. Three others were also injured and sent to a hospital.

In addition, Lin and another person had a car accident when leaving the scene. Lin's partner suffered a fractured leg and was also sent to the hospital. Lin, however, managed to escape from the scene.

Police found several firearms and weapons in the motel room, including a modified rifle, seven shells, five bullets and four knives. According to police, there may also be pistols.

Currently, police have already taken relevant information from 13 suspects. They have reported to procurators and hope to arrest Lin as soon as possible.

Since moving from Tucheng all I ever read is about murders and gang fights there. Perhaps those ghetto pool halls I used to frequent weren't just full of high school drop-outs but were actually gangsta haunts.
