Alleged affair, false charges land attorney in hot water

TAIPEI -- A female lawyer has been indicted for making false accusations against her Philippine maid to keep her from spilling the beans about an affair the lawyer was having with her bodyguard, the Taipei District Prosecutors Office said.

In the indictment handed down on May 7, prosecutors allege that the lawyer, identified only by her surname Chuang, had an affair with a man who served as her bodyguard and driver in November and December of 2010, and the Philippine maid saw them having sex.

Afraid that the maid would reveal the affair to her husband and testify against her, Chuang had the employee sign a waiver agreeing not to ask for her contract to be renewed and bought her a plane ticket back to Manila in June 2011, prosecutors said.

But the Philippine maid decided she wanted to stay in Taiwan and backed out of the arrangement, prompting Chuang to try to get the maid thrown out of the country by accusing her of stealing a diamond ring, earrings, a necklace and NT$30,000 cash, the indictment says.

The more educated the worse they treat their caretakers. There are labor laws to protect OCW’s. Had she not tried to make the maid sign the waiver, the Filipina would’ve said nothing about the affair, since it doesn’t concern her neither has any relation to her work. Indeed, a tricky, sneaky move by an unfaithful wife. I wonder if she gave the "stolen" items as a gift to her "body" guard.
