Hau praises long-time relationship with ECCT

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin (郝龍斌) yesterday lauded the progress Taipei has made in the past seven years and also the city's long-time relationship with the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT).

Hau made the remarks at the ECCT's 2014 roundtable lunch, an annual event in which ECCT members and Taipei City Government officials discuss their viewpoints on their joint efforts to improve the city.

In his opening remarks, ECCT Chairman Giuseppe Izzo noted that this was the 14th consecutive annual roundtable lunch with the city government officials, which is designed to strengthen the already good relations the ECCT enjoys with Taipei.

A good example of the ECCT's successful collaboration with the Taipei government was when it co-hosted several forums and roundtable meetings at the Eco-Products International Fair last week, said Izzo. During these meetings, participants discussed a number of topics related to sustainability, including how to improve and increase the use of sustainable transport, green buildings and smart energy in the city. “This was a good example of how European companies and the city are working together to make Taipei City cleaner, greener and attractive for investors and as a place to live,” Izzo stressed.

Hau emphasized the long and close relationship the Taipei City Government has enjoyed with the ECCT and thanked the chamber for its continued support and cooperation.
