Regent Taipei lights up new LED Xmas ornament ahead of festivities

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Regent Taipei Hotel held a lighting event for their newly constructed Christmas ornament yesterday, in celebration of Christmas and the upcoming Taipei Lantern Festival in the Zhongshan District.

As the rain drizzled like snowflakes in the city, junior students from the children choir and band of the Taipei European School assembled in an orderly fashion, professional in their own rights with no cover from the light drizzle, and graced their audiences with famous French Christmas carol “Pat-a-pan,” followed by various Christmas carols from all around Europe, brining a very merry ambience to the holiday season with their voices.

Standing at 5 meters tall, the Christmas ornament is made up with over 10,000 LED lights embedded on to the globe shaped structure. The ornament is designed with large snowflakes in white, creating an empty space to make the structure all the more artistic.

Regent Taipei invited Zhongshan District Director Mr. Lin Ping-jsung, as well as Regent Chairmen Steven Pan and Regent CEO Amy Hsueh to lighten to globe. “We are honored to have a hotel of such caliber as Regent Taipei for the past 20 years,” said (林秉宗). “The hotel has always been a supporter of our district, and have always been an avid participant in decorating the exterior of their hotel during holidays, making our district look all the more cheerful and beautiful.”

The ceremony was followed by a fashion show from models of Catwalk Production House. Walking around the Christmas ornament, the models displayed the latest lines of winter trends from 12 international brands such as ETRO, Maxmara and Tumi in various forms of attire.

In honor of both Christmas and the Lantern Festival, Regent Taipei's ornament will be displayed throughout this year and the next, at the very front of the hotel, emitting its Christmas lights for all to see.
