75-year-old woman kills husband after man brings home 20-year-old hostess

The woman, surnamed Yang Lee (楊李), turned herself in to the Keelung police following the incident, authorities said.

According to an account of events provided to police by Yang Lee, she had a quarrel with her husband after he brought home a hostess he met in a bar the day before. Lee reportedly asked for money from his wife. The verbal argument turned physical fight when Lee, according to Yang Lee's account of events, picked up a wooden stool and hit his wife.

The husband, however, fell to the ground owing to a slippery floor, the account said. Yang Lee then picked up the stool and hit him with it, the account continued.

She discovered that Lee had lost consciousness and turned herself in to a nearby police station, the police said. Lee died in a hospital due to blood loss and serious head injuries.

A neighbor of Yang Lee told investigators that the couple had been married for 50 years and raised five children together, adding that for decades the couple had been observed fighting over money issues.

Yang, a retired civil servant, rarely gave his wife any money, the neighbor said.

A lawyer not involved in the case said Yang Lee may face a homicide charge with the maximum penalty potentially being a death sentence.

Any jail term, however, could be cut as she surrendered herself to authorities following the incident.
