Taipei and New Taipei to launch transportation appCNA TAIPEI--The Taipei City Government and the New Taipei City Government will jointly launch a bilingual mobile application this year providing real-time transportation information for the two cities, an official said yesterday.
January 10, 2013, 12:04 am TWN “We'd like to combine information from both cities, integrated onto one platform,” said Liu Jui-lin, a division chief at the Taipei City Government. However, he said there is no precise timetable for the English-Mandarin Chinese app and that the two cities are still working on collecting information and unifying the format. In addition to timetables for buses and the Mass Rapid Transit system, the app, as yet unnamed, will feature information on parking lots, traffic controls and the shared bike system in the two cities. It will be based on the “Fun Travel in Taipei” app that the Taipei City Government launched last April and which had had nearly 350,000 downloads as of the end of 2012, according to Liu.
