Taipei honored at world IT congress in MontrealCNA TAIPEI--The Taipei City Government was honored at the 2012 World Congress on Information Technology in Montreal for its success in establishing urban infrastructure that provides information services.
October 25, 2012, 12:10 am TWN The city became the first public organization to win the Public Sector Excellence award for a second time when it was honored for its “Love @Taipei, a Smart City” campaign by the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) at the congress. Taipei previously won the award in 2002 for its “Cyber City” campaign. Chang Chia-sheng, the commissioner of the city's Department of Information Technology who is in Montreal, shared the award with Taiwan through a webcam. He said the city's several urban services, including the public service 1999 call center, a closed-circuit television system that aims to lower the crime rate, and the city's Taipei Free Public Wi-Fi Access, were instrumental in helping the city win the award.
