Satellite transmitter to track migration of rare spoonbill

TAIPEI--A black-faced spoonbill, an endangered bird species, was released into the wild at a wetlands in southern Taiwan on yesterday after being fitted with a satellite transmitter to track its migration routes for wildlife conservation reference.

"It marks the first time that we have fitted a black-faced spoonbill with that type of advanced equipment for migration tracking," said Lu Teng-yuan, director of the Taijiang National Park Administration in the southern city of Tainan.
