Lady Gaga visit to Taipei yoga class causes chaosMore than 500 people gathered outside Pure Yoga on Zhongxiao East Road, one of the city's busiest areas, at around 3 p.m., waiting to catch a glimpse of Lady Gaga after she finished her one-hour yoga class inside the building. The crowds blocked the sidewalk and two exits of the Zhongxiao Dunhua MRT station. Many people were seen holding up their smart phones and cameras hoping to capture the moment when one of the world's best-selling artists walked out of the building. Several policemen were also on hand to help maintain order. Lady Gaga is in Taiwan to promote her latest album “Born This Way.” “I think we would be quite lucky (to see her) since she is a globally famous superstar,” said Jenny Chen, who happened to be passing by and heard people saying the star was in the area. “I was in the church. As soon as my classmate told me about it, I rushed here,” said Judy Lin in excitement. She said she brought a notebook to obtain an autograph from her idol, if possible. About two hours later, the diva emerged from the yoga class, wearing a black lace outfit and sunglasses and carrying a yoga mat. Her long hair was dyed half black and half white. She stopped at the entrance of the building for the press to take photos and then went into a sedan that was parked in front of the classroom. Chaos erupted as the crowds surged forward, trying to get a closer look at the star. The Argentine yoga instructor, who asked not to be named, said Lady Gaga was very friendly and apparently in a good mood. The yoga mat, along with a T-shirt, was a gift to the artist. After the sedan departed, many people in the crowd could be seen excitedly showing each other the pictures that they took of Lady Gaga. The Grammy-Award winning artist will head for Taichung for concert at the Fulfillment Amphitheater on Sunday. Earlier the American pop superstar has remained elusive to media and fans. Having announced the second day of her visit to be the “Creative Day,” Lady Gaga said she would not attend any public events. Neither had she appeared behind the curtain on the top floor of the Regent Taipei hotel like she did the night before. Major cable news reporters have been waiting all morning, hoping to track Lady Gaga's next move. The hotel said it did not receive any orders of room service from the world-renowned guest this morning. Compared with the hundreds of fans who had flocked to the hotel the previous day, no more than 10 people stopped by to see whether they could catch a glimpse of the pop star. Yu Chih-chieh, 14, caught the media's attention when he silently sat on the stairs with a mask of a horse's head on his face. He said he had traveled from Taoyuan, which is about a one-hour drive from Taipei. “I wanted to do something quirky after watching her (Lady Gaga) do so,” Yu said shyly. Yu said he plans to stay until tonight and head to Taichung the following day to watch her album promotion event. Another high school student, taking a lunch break from the college entrance exam, chose to spend his precious two hours to wait for Lady Gaga. He said he had to return at around 2 p.m. to continue the test. Two other fans stayed up all night outside the hotel, and say they want to meet the star in person. | ||||||||||||||||||||
