FUSE Textile Fashion Week kicks off at Xinyi Shin KongNow in its sixth year, the fashion show is an extravagant showcase of the nation's textile industry, serving as a spectacular visual promotion of everything “MIT.” Sponsored by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), a series of events including the fashion show and opening ceremony attended by the who's who of Taiwan's high society are held in the Xinyi District. Among the celebrations is the MOEA's new initiative to stamp onto products the “MIT logo” in order to increase the market competitiveness of domestically manufactured products while promoting their inherent good quality. Over 41 stores or boutiques are adopting the logo. Products sold at the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store under the new MIT logo include sweaters, lingerie, swimwear, knit socks, towels and luggage. Last night at 7 p.m., the MIT fashion night kicked off, with the cocktail-mixing services of world champion Taiwanese bartender Gong Hui-jun and the support of Taiwanese professional baseball player turned MLB pitcher Fu-Te Ni. | |||||||||||||
