Updated Monday, March 22, 2010 9:36 am TWN, CNA Top Kenyan runners dominate Taipei International Express MarathonHenry Cherono won the men's title and a purse of NT$100,000 (US$3,153) with a time of two hours, 24 minutes and seven seconds, while his compatriot Evelyne Kimuria won the women's title in 2:53:06. Chiang Chieh-wen, who clocked 2:27:37, finished second and Tseng Yi-Tsai took third place with 2: 39: 52 in the men's category. Lee Hsiao-Yu finished second with 3: 2:5 and Hsu Yu-feng finished third in 3:12:10 in the women's category. Despite heavy pollution from a severe sandstorm originating in China, the race attracted some 9,000 runners who competed in the 42.195 km full marathon, a 21.0975-km half marathon and a 10.4-km run, as well as a 3-km fun run. Among the most notable runners was engineer Cheng Kai-wei, who was dressed as the alien Navi from the Hollywood blockbuster movie “Avatar”. He crossed the final line in the half marathon with a time of 1:43:15 and was awarded a pair of running shoes.
