Discount period on MRT Wenhu line to be extendedThe 25.3-kilometer Wenhu line has had several system failures since it became operational on July 4, 2009. In light of the inconvenience caused to passengers, the Taipei Rapid Transit Corp. (TRTC) announced at the end of last year that in the first six months of 2010, the fares on the line would be discounted. Hau said that the problematic Wenhu line is now very safe and stable, but the discount offer will continue for the rest of this year. TRTC estimates show that there are an average 203,000 passenger trips per day on the Wenhu line and the discount will cost the corporation NT$3.46 for each passenger trip. The special fare offer will reduce the TRTC's monthly revenue by NT$21 million, the estimates show. | |||||||||||||
