Man sentenced for using other's identity to book train tickets

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A man accused of using other people's identity to book train tickets on-line was sentenced to three months in prison by Taipei court yesterday.

The 30-year-old man, surnamed Su, wanted to buy a large number of railway tickets through the Internet in Feb. due to business needs.

  According to the regulation of Taipei Railways Administration, each person can book at most six tickets in a day whether using on-line or voice booking system.

Su used his girlfriend's ID card number and ordered 12 round-trip tickets from Taipei to Hualien on March 13 to 14 without her acknowledgement.

After receiving the order code from the Web site, Su later went to the Taipei railway station picking up tickets.

  Su was charged of forgery by Taipei District Court and was sentenced to three months in prison which is commutable to a fine.
