Gas explosion in apartment injures three children

Two of the three boys hurt by the explosion, both age 7, suffered burns all over their bodies, while the youngest boy, 3, lost the sight in his right eye.

The loud sound of the blast came from a third-floor apartment in Hsintien City around midnight Thursday. Although the boys' mother was at home with them at the time of the accident, she was asleep in another room and managed to remain unharmed. The children's father, out working, was absent from the scene of the explosion.

The police speculated that the accident was caused by the three children playing with fire.

However, local authorities will investigate further.
