'Frozen baby corpse' sitter, husband indicted

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A woman and her husband were charged by Banciao prosecutors for freezing a baby girl who died under her watch and later disposed the infant at the parents' doorstep.

The woman Lu Yi-shan and the man, surname Chen, were indicted for occupational negligence causing death and abandonment of corpse by the Banciao District Prosecutors Office.

Lu was hired by a couple in Taipei County as a full-time babysitter to their three month-old daughter.

The baby apparently choked on her vomited milk and died later. Lu, who was already wanted for a separate offense, failed to report the death immediately to the parents or to the police and decided to freeze the body in a refrigerator.

The body was frozen for 6 days before Lu abandoned it in a box at the front door of the parents' home.

Parents should be careful especially screening the baby sitter Bio-Data. This is the most essential procedure prior to hiring them.
