1st animal ambulance now on the streetsThe Taiwan Life Caring and Animal Rescue Organization asked drivers to make way if they see the animal ambulance, which is green with a yellow siren. The Council of Agriculture and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications approved a regulation that outlines special equipment and display requirements for animal ambulances. Charitable people donated the first animal ambulance that meets all the requirements, said the animal group. The organization said that in the past, animal ambulances were not allowed to have a siren, so precious time was often wasted on the way to veterinary hospitals to save injured cats and dogs. This is a big step for animal rescue efforts in the country, said veterinary Tsai Kun-lung. By regulating animal ambulances, it confers them a true life-saving function, Tsai said. Chen Chien-ming, a Taipei City councilor, said the regulation of the animal ambulances will also guarantee the safety of animal rescuers riding in them. Related Stories | |||||||||||||
