Sydney Yeh to be awarded Shih Hsin honorary Ph.D.

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Sydney Yeh, a former senior advisor to the president, will receive an honorary Ph.D. degree from Shih Hsin University on Wednesday.

Yeh will be Shih Hsin’s first honorary doctorate holder, a university spokesman said yesterday.

Born in Fuzhou in 1913, Yeh graduated from Hsieh Ho University and studied at Stanford University. He came to Taipei in 1945 as Taiwan bureau chief of the Central News Agency.

He also served as vice president and chairman of the board of trustees of Shih Hsin.
