The wedding ceremony, testified by honorary chairman Lien Chan of the ruling Kuomintang, followed the “prudence and environmental protection” principle, with such luxurious dishes as shark’s fins, abalone, lobster not served at the wedding banquet.

There were only 30 tables served at the banquet, with only Gou’s family members and close friends invited to share the delight of the marriage.

This is Gou’s second marriage, held more than three years after his wife Lin Shu-run died of breast cancer at the age of 55.

Among the guests at the wedding ceremony were such political figures as Vice President Vincent Siew, Premier Liu Chao-shiuan, Secretary General Wu Den-yi of the KMT, Foreign Affairs Minister Francisco H. L. Ou, Economic Minister Yin Chi-ming, Chairman Chen Su of the Financial Supervisory Commission, Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin, Taoyuan Magistrate Chu Li-lun, and Miaoli Magistrate Liu Chen-hong.

Local industrial and business leaders attending the ceremony included Chairman Morris Chang of the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Chairman Barry Lam of the Quanta Computer, Acer Founder Stan Shih, and representatives from Hon Hai’s clients such as Sony, etc.
