President Ma attended the occasion with first lady Chou Mei-ching.
Other political figures who shared in the happy event included Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin and magistrates from Taipei, Taoyuan, Nantou and Miaoli counties.
Business and industrial leaders who personally sent their congratulations included chief executives from the Formosa Plastics Groups, the Far Eastern Group, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., United Microelectronics, Asustek, Mitac, Quanta, etc.
Stephen Yang, director of the Taipei office of the American Institute in Taiwan, was among foreign dignitaries attending the ceremony.
Others present were representatives from trade offices of areas and nations including Japan, Brazil, Czech Republic, the European Union, Finland, France, Hungary, India, Mexico, and Vietnam, where the Hon Hai Group has maintained investment and manufacturing operations.
Gou's wedding is scheduled to be held on July 26. Honorary Chairman Lien Chan of the ruling Kuomintang has been invited to preside over the ceremony.
