Ding said the wedding ceremony will follow the “prudence and environmental protection” principle, and therefore luxurious dishes as shark’s fins, abalone or lobster won’t be served at the banquet.
The banquet will boast only 30 tables, with only Guo’s family members and close friends on the invite list to “share the delight of the marriage,” according to Ding.
She stressed that Guo won’t accept cash gifts and flowers, in order to avoid giving the misleading impression that his marriage is to be a “marriage of the century.”
Guo expressed hopes that various sectors won’t focus their attention on his wedding, but on victims plagued by tropical storm Kalmaegi, economic problems and day-to-day livelihood issues, according to Ding.
Guo will officially send wedding invitation cards to his guests. It is expected that Chairman Morris Chang will be invited to act as a witness to the ceremony, while President Ma Ying-jeou is likely to preside over the ceremony.
This is Guo’s second marriage, held more than three years after his wife Lin Shu-run died of breast cancer at the age of 55.
