TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The world's biggest annual exhibition for design students is being held in Taipei, showcasing the work of young designers and creating an opportunity for future new stars to be discovered, an organizer of the event said yesterday.
The 2008 Young Designers' Exhibition, started the previous day at the Taipei World Trade Center, comprising nearly 2,000 booths, said Lee Juei-chin, promotion section chief of the Taiwan Design Center, which organized the event.
The show displays work in various categories, including product design, package design, graphic design and digital media design, Lee said.
It has attracted the participation of Taiwan's 48 colleges and universities, as well as 20 world renowned foreign design institutes in the United States, Britain, Italy, Holland, Australia and New Zealand.
All the work on show will be graded for a design competition under the criteria of design sensitivity, degrees of commercialization, and overall concept.
A series of activities will be held alongside the exhibition, including seminars and job matching, to provide both learning and working opportunities for young designers, Lee said.
