Councilor Chou Po-ya of the Democratic Progressive Party said he has received frequent complaints from angry motorists and passengers over rough roadways.
Without an efficient resolution, the city government often attributed the problems on the roads to bad weather and substandard asphalt, Chou said.
But he said despite the city administration spending NT$230 million (US$7.46 million) each year over the past two years on road maintenance, the problem remains unresolved.
Hau said that a standard procedure will be outlined by September to regulate road maintenance work, quality control and the monitoring of road pavement, as well as irregular road inspections.
