Coincidences seen in murder, overdose case

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Luchou police are wondering why there are so many coincidences in a murder case and a death from a drug overdose.

“Why was the first man we questioned an acquaintance of both of the two dead victims?” a police sergeant at the Luchou precinct asked yesterday.

The person questioned was identified as Frog. He knew Yu Tzu-yao, 56, arrested for murdering Chao Yung-chi on last Dec. 22, and Hsiao Chuan-lung, 32, nabbed last Saturday for dumping the body of drug-overdosed Wang Chih-cheng, 32. Another coincidence is that Yu and Hsiao had stripped the dead of their clothes and dumped them in recycling boxes in Luchou, Taipei County.

Their bodies were found at the same place on Minyi Road in Luchou, only five meters apart.

Still another coincidence is that Hsiao and Yu are all but next-door neighbors. “And Chao was killed and Wang died and Yu and Hsiao were arrested on Saturday,” the police sergeant said.
