Updated Monday, January 28, 2008 0:00 am TWN, The China Post news staff Wrong corpse cremated by mistaken family: policeAs it turns out, the wrong body was cremated as Peng’s due to his family mistakenly identifing the corpse as that of Peng. According to police, a person was found frozen to death in a public toilet in Taoyuan County Friday. The body was later identified by family members as that of 39-year-old Peng. It was subsequently cremated. When police stationed at Taipei Railway Station heard of Peng’s death and cremation, they were all terrified as they had been seeing Peng on a regular basis. “There are some 380 homeless people living in Taipei Railway Station, and we keep profiles of them to make sure nothing happens to them,” said Chen Chun-kai, an officer of the Taiwan Railway Administration police. “We see Peng all the time. When we heard about his death, we thought we were seeing a ghost.” The police now face a dilemma — they can’t find out the identity of the person who was cremated. “It’s pretty hard to look into that at this point,” Chen said. | Local Breaking News Most Read |
