TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Grand Hyatt Taipei yesterday hosted its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremon

y with an elaborate program that showcased the hotel's giving spirit.

The event began with a performance by the Taiwan Child Welfare League Foundation (TCWLF), followed by a catwalk show featuring a series of teddy bears by local designers and celebrities.

A sound and light show ensued with hundreds of gold and silver Christmas balloons filling the air as the festive performance culminated with the arrival of Santa Claus.

"Throughout the year, and particularly during this special season of giving and receiving, Grand Hyatt Taipei reaches out to members of the community to lend a helping hand to those who really need assistance," said David Pacey, general manager of the Grand Hyatt Taipei.

Pacey continued, "This year is no exception. As part of the commitment of Hyatt FORCE program, we are participating in a charity partnership this upcoming festive season with Men's Uno magazine, one of Taiwan's leading lifestyle magazines."

A total of 10 teddy bears will be auctioned on the "I'm TV" Web site starting next month, and they can also be checked out in the hotel's store "The Boutique."

Grand Hyatt Taipei has also designed a special Christmas gift box featuring one of the collectible teddy bears. A total of 30 boxes priced at NT$1,600 each will be sold in The Boutique during the festive season.

The hotel is also promoting a charity drive with a specially designed donation envelope which will be placed in all guestrooms and restaurants.

All the proceeds generated from the hotel's charity events will be donated to TCWLF.

Guests to the event included Justin Lin, publisher and editor-in-chief of Men's Uno magazine; Alicia Wang, CEO of the TCWLF; and Robert Yang, executive director of I'm TV.
