Tainan City Government planning to play host to Aug. music festival

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- In order to cultivate local musical talent and promote tourism, the Tainan City Government is holding the Tainan Masago Music Festival scheduled to take place on August 9.
Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau in inviting independent bands all over Taiwan to register for a musical contest, where six finalists will be competing on stage in the Masago Music Festival. Cash prizes of NT$30,000, NT$20,000, and NT$10,000 will be awarded to the first place, second place and third place winners.
In order to qualify for the event, a band must have three members including at least one student. Registration can be made via phone at 02-2531-6586. Bands may also download the registration form online (tour.tainan.gov.tw). The contest is open to registration until July 15.
Bands must also submit a live performance video to a panel of judges, who will then select 12 bands that will be eligible for the contest. The decision will be made based on four criteria: self introduction, skills of performance, stage manner and inspiration capability. After preliminary contests, six finalist bands will then compete in the Tainan Masago Music Festival. The event is also going to be attended by well-known celebrities.
