NCKU Vietnamese Cultural Week to kick off May 3

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) will host its annual Vietnamese Cultural Week on May 3.

To advertise the event, several Vietnamese women in traditional garb danced in front of NCKU's Yun-Ping Building.

This year's theme is "Love of the Four Seasons" (戀戀四季), and the two-day event will include an artifact exhibition, food tasting, traditional folk games and a grand gala, aiming to introduce Taiwanese students and the general public to the beauty of Vietnamese culture.

According to one of the event organizers, Huang-Yen Ruan, the Vietnamese Cultural Week has increased in popularity over the years and its aim is not only to promote traditional Vietnamese culture, but also to allow all Vietnamese people living, learning and working in Taiwan an opportunity to gather together.

Traditional cuisine is on offer and the sweet aroma of Vietnamese dishes such as rice noodles, spring rolls, dumplings, Vietnamese bread, as well as authentic Vietnamese coffee, is sure to attract crowds and allow them to better understand Vietnam.

In addition to food and games, there will be an employment seminar on May 4, which invites students to interact will both Vietnamese students and Taiwanese companies that have investments in Vietnam.

The grand finale is the cultural gala at 7 p.m. on May 4, which will take place in Cheng-Kung Hall.

The event will showcase the essence of Vietnamese culture and, with a variety of 15 performances ranging from traditional song and dance to dramas, it is sure to become the highlight of the Vietnamese Cultural Week.
