TWC explained that Tainan's water supply relies on Wushantou Reservoir (烏山頭水庫), which derives the water from Tseng-Wen Reservoir (曾文水庫). The source of the reservoirs is surface water, not groundwater, added TWC. The Corporation reiterated that the company regularly examined the volatile organic compounds and heavy metals including arsenic, lead, cadmium, and mercury. Recent tests proved that the water either did not contain any such substances, or contained certain amounts at levels considerably below the legal limit, said TWC. TWC pleaded consumers' confidence and said that company and related agencies would inspect the quality of the water regularly. Subscribe to The China Post and save 25%. Click here |
