Policeman, suspect shots in Taichung raid

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A police officer and a robbery suspect were shot during a nighttime arrest in Taichung, yesterday.

The male officer surnamed Chang was teaming up with prosecutors in a raid at an apartment in downtown Taichung when the suspect opened fire and hit Chang in the abdomen. The police returned fire, injuring the suspect in his legs before apprehending him.

Both Chang and the suspect, who was arrested for alleged involvement in a robbery last month, were sent to the China Medical University Hospital.

If he wasn't guilty of robbery, he is guilty of owning and discharging a firearm. Plus, whatever charge for shooting an officer; attempted murder perhaps.
