The blood Center said currently it only has five days worth of reserves, as opposed to the recommended reserve level of 12 days.
Citing cold weather and the ongoing influenza pandemic, The Blood Center said in recent months there have been a lack of blood donors.
In response, The Blood Center has set up tents and mobile blood drive locations to encourage the public to donate blood. In the spirit of the holidays, two university students were invited to write and give Chinese New Years celebratory calligraphy.
One of the students, surnamed Zhao (趙), said she had been giving blood since she was a senior in high school and hoped the Blood Center will be able to reach its donation target of 200 units of blood.
