After asking her mother, surnamed Lin, 53, if she knew of its whereabouts and receiving a negative answer, she decided to report her loss to the police. The police spotted the stolen scooter last Friday, which was being ridden by a man, surnamed Lin, 51, with Hsiao mother's on the back at the intersection of Dongshan Road (東山路) and Juengong Road (軍功路) and had both of them arrested. After his arrest, the man wondered why he got caught for riding a scooter his girlfriend claimed to be her daughter's. “It is indeed my daughter scooter, but I rode it away without her consent,” the woman confessed in embarrassment, quoted by the Apple Daily. According to the police, the mother, a widow for many years, was too embarrassed to let her children know about her new relationship. Hsiao was surprised when meeting her mother and her mother's boyfriend at the police station, the police said.
