24 injured, 30 scooters destroyed in arson blaze

TAICHUNG, Taiwan -- Twenty four nurses were injured and 30 scooters were completely burned when the blaze tore through the entire female dormitory of Kuang Tien General Hospital in Tachia Township, Taichung County late yesterday.

A total of 45 nurses rushed to the top of the building searching for help as the fire broke out. Intense heat and thick smoke glutted the building with windows were smashed into pieces.

Police arrested a man surnamed Lin, who was suspected of setting the fire, according to the nearby surveillance camera. Police also found gas can and candles from Lin's car. The case is now under investigation.
