Taichung AmCham to hold America Day Celebration

TAICHUNG, Taiwan -- The Taichung American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) said Friday that its 15th America Day Celebration will be held at a different venue this year and will feature non-stop live music by local bands along with a variety of fun activities.

Taichung's longest-running international event, this year's AmCham America Day Celebration will take place from midday until 9:30 p.m. at the central city's Nanyuan Park, where participants can enjoy an environment that includes grass, trees and a children's playground, said Taichung AmCham Chairman Nathan Hines in a press statement.

"This is a fun, wholesome activity for all ages and I look forward to seeing thousands of Taiwanese and foreigners turning up for a day of fun," Hines said.

Organized by Taichung AmCham and sponsored by the Taichung city government and various local restaurants and hotels, the event will feature vendor booths selling a wide variety of international food, drinks and other products, as well as game and charity booths.

There will also be all-day live band performances, including local and foreign bands and musicians such as The Money Shot Horns, Militant Hippi, The DoLittles, 3 Day Bender, The Stackers and `Round Midnight, according to the organizer, which added that it expects at least 7,000 participants to turn up throughout the day.

More information about the event is available at Taichung AmCham's Web site at www.amchamtaichung.org.

The America Day Celebration is the largest annual event organized by Taichung Amcham, which was founded in 1993 to serve central Taiwan's foreign and local business communities.
