Man confesses to slaying girlfriend

TAICHUNG, Taiwan -- The police announced a culprit in the slaying of a 31-year-old woman, whose corpse was found on the side of the road among the bushes in Taichung, central Taiwan Monday. Her former boyfriend, surname Liang, was arrested on murder charges yesterday following a police investigation, according to United Daily.

Liang confessed to committing the crime over disputes concerning money and relationship. He said that he had been paying his girlfriend’s insurance premium until his unstable work situation made him unable to afford the payments recently.

After a small dispute with his girlfriend while on a trip to Gao-Liao fort, he reportedly slashed her neck using a fruit knife when she told him she wanted to separate.

Out of guilt over the crime, he later bought a bouquet of white roses and placed them beside her corpse seven days after the murder. The flowers, along with the body, which by then had decayed beyond recognition, were found by passers by who notified the police.
