Lions Club donates three vehicles to help disabled

TAICHUNG, Taiwan -- The Lions Club International 300-CI district chapter donated three vehicles yesterday to transport physically challenged schoolchildren in Taichung City to class.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, Taichung Mayor Jason Hu expressed his appreciation to the charitable organization for its generous contribution.

Hu noted that the municipal government had only been able to replace two of the five aged vehicles that transported physically challenged children to school and he thanked the Lions Club for lending a hand to replace the remaining three.

The generous donation means that our city’s challenged children can now travel to school in safety, he said.

For her part, Chang You-lin, supervisor of the Lions Club’s 300-CI chapter, said that her organization has always sincerely striven to help the disadvantaged members of society and that it will continue to work toward this goal in the future.

Besides the three vehicles, the Lions Club also donated to the city a medical vehicle for conducting uterine screening tests.

The donations have a combined value of over NT$5 million (US$164,470).
