Kenting hostels, hotels almost fully booked ahead of festivalsBy Adam Tyrsett Kuo ,The China Post TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Most of the hostels in Kenting (墾丁) are fully booked, while many of the major hotels are 80 to 90 percent reserved, as the annual music festival season prepares to kick off in April.
March 13, 2013, 12:15 am TWN The original Spring Scream (春吶) music festival will be held from April 3 to 7. This year's Spring Scream will reportedly be more focused on independent rock bands as opposed to performers signed to major record labels. Several different-themed festivals will also be held concurrently at different outdoor venues across Kenting, which attract large crowds of partygoers every year. The operator of Maya House (瑪雅之家), one of the hostels in Kenting, said that room reservations began coming in six months ago and that its room are presently fully booked. “Most of the other hostels in the neighborhood are also fully booked,” the operator said. Howard Beach Resort Kenting (墾丁福華飯店) said that as of yesterday, approximately 80 to 90 percent of its rooms had been booked, urging those planning to take part in the festivals to make reservations as soon as possible. Several travel agencies said hostels usually do better than hotels during the festival season, because most young people prefer to rent an entire hostel building for after-parties. |
