Bee growers have apparently collaborated with fruit growers by offering boxes of bees as pollinators for watermelons and melons in fruit farms all over Neipu Township, Nanchue Township and Hsinpi Township. After receiving phone calls complaining of wild bees flying in nearby residential communities, police tracked down the 54-year old suspect surnamed Yeh in Hsinpi Township, where police discovered 28 boxes of the missing bees in Yeh's farm. In response, Yeh explained he bought the stolen boxes from another individual and had no knowledge of the other missing bees. He has been arrested and the police are currently tracking down the other stolen bees. According to the police, bees have abandoned their nest in 12 of the stolen boxes. The bees were unable to track their nest because Yeh had covered the boxes with black-colored net, said the bee growers. Subscribe to The China Post and save 25%. Click here |
