Pingtung fair visitors pass 300,000 mark

PINGTUNG, Taiwan -- The Pingtung Tropical Agriculture Exposition greeted its 300,000th visitor yesterday with souvenirs, as the fair organized to promote agricultural products in the southern Taiwan county set a new visitor record in its four-year history.

The lucky visitor, Cheng Yu-chuan, a woman from Taipei in northern Taiwan, was presented with a bicycle, a bouquet of roses and a pumpkin by the Council of Agriculture Chairman Su Jia-chyuan and Pingtung Magistrate Tsao Chi-hung.

In anticipation of the arrival of the 300,000th visitor since the opening of this year’s fair in early February, the Pingtung County government, which organizes the event, invited Su and prepared gifts a day before to welcome the visitor.

Su, who used to serve as the county’s magistrate, noted that the fair was launched during his term and thanked the current county government for making it better.
