Kinmen Island brings in goat breeds from Taiwan

TAIPEI -- With breeding goats in Kinmen a popular trend, the outlying county's Livestock Research Institute has recently brought in a herd of goats from Taiwan proper to help solve inbreeding problems and meet local residents' demand for black goat meat.

The institute received three male and five female breeding goats last year from the Cabinet-level Council of Agriculture's Hualien Animal Propagation Station, and they have since given birth to eight baby goats.

Earlier this month, the Kinmen Livestock Research Institute introduced four Nubian breeding goats from Taitung County that are expected to breed in the fall.
