TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Penghu County Government on Friday released a preview of this year's Penghu Ocean Fireworks Festival (2014澎湖國際海上花火節), announcing the most exciting spectacle to be seen since the event's inception in 2003.
The event is scheduled to run weekly, every Monday and Thursday evening from April 14 to June 19, at the Guanyin Pavilion Recreation Area (觀音亭休閒區). In addition, Penghu County Magistrate Wang Chien-fa (王乾光) stated that the event will also contribute to Penghu's bid to be listed among members of “The most beautiful bay in the world” club, an international tourism initiative started in France.
This year's event will feature a fireworks performance from production crews hailing from all over the world, including Brazil, Finland and China, to showcase the resplendent evening backdrop in Penghu as the season progresses from spring to summer. The spectacles will also be backed by performances from Taiwan's leading entertainers. Visiting audience members will be eligible for a prize sweepstakes valued at more than NT$1 million in value.
