South hopes to lure more visitors with tour passports

The China Post news staff --People planning travels to Southern Taiwan and offshore Penghu County will have the opportunity of getting copies of “Southern Taiwan tour passports” free of charge to help enhance their recreational activities and enjoy various incentives.

A total of 217,000 print copies of the tour passports will be issued to the public from Aug. 16 to Sept. 10, which will provide detailed information on suggested major travel plans with 15 special themes.

They will be available at stations of the Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) and high-speed rail system, as well as at stops of the mass rapid transit networks in Taipei and Kaohsiung.

The tour passports can also be picked up at the rest areas of the freeway networks in Taiwan.

Those after their own tour passports can also download information and incentive coupons from www.eysc.ey.gov.tw, the official website of the Southern Taiwan Joint Services Center of the Executive Yuan.

The tour passport consolidates vital tourism information and resources in the cities and counties of Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung and offshore Penghu (the Pescadores) for visitors.

The passport contains maps for tourist attractions such as scenic areas, aboriginal cultural facilities, museums, night markets, farm and fishery markets, and souvenir shops. It also introduces incentives offered by stores and hotels.

Those who are interested can download coupons for discounts provided by more than 130 stores as well as over 300 enterprises, which include restaurants, hotels, motels, “bed and breakfast” facilities, and resort villages.

A raffle will be held for people who upload their photos posing with the southern Taiwan tour passports plus brief comments on their trips to southern Taiwan and Penghu. Winners will be picked on Sept. 10.

Travelers seeking to have the tour passports with integrated information and incentives in southern Taiwan and Penghu or join the lucky raffle may get details from the website www.eysc.ey.gov.tw.
