Updated Saturday, January 2, 2010 12:18 am TWN, The China Post news staff Hiker found dead from hypothermia in NantouA civil group entered Renai Township in Nantou on Dec. 30 for a 6-day hiking activity, said Nantou's fire department. The fire department received a rescue request at 9 p.m. Dec. 31 that a hiker showed symptoms of hypothermia in the mountains. The fire department sent rescuers that night and dispatched a helicopter in the following morning to search for the group. The team was located in a remote area in the mountains; the hiker, surnamed Chen, was found dead when the rescue team arrived on Jan. 1.
