The system linking the lake's Ita Shao Dock and the private amusement park is expected to promote local tourism because it will give tourists a bird's eye view of the scenic lake area and the Puli basin. It was constructed by the park under a build-own-operate model, with the work taking 18 months and passed Nantou county government inspections Dec. 24. Between Monday to Jan. 3, the amusement park will treat residents of the central county's Yuchih township free cable car rides and free admission to the park. Before its official opening March 31, regular ticket prices will be NT$250, with prices for groups of over 20 or more set at NT$225. After its official launch, regular ticket prices will be NT$300, concessionary prices will be NT$250, and prices for groups of 20 or more will be NT$270. The system will operate between 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays and between 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on holidays. The 86-car system, which passes through a valley that is 786 meters wide at its widest point and 200 meters deep, will be able to transport up to 3,000 passengers per hour, the administration said.
