Miaoli magistrate voices support for gov't actions

TAIPEI -- Miaoli Magistrate Liu Cheng-hung lent his support Monday to the government's removal of the protesters who had broken into the Executive Yuan the night before.

The Kuomintang (KMT) member criticized student-led protesters who have been occupying the Legislative Yuan since last Tuesday night as well as the smaller group that made its way to the Cabinet offices a block away Sunday evening.

“The nation cannot continue to be in chaos,” he said, urging students to abide by the law and express their views in a rational way.

He noted that even elected lawmakers are unable to enter the Legislature due to the continued occupation by students and others opposed to the service trade pact with China.
